# Slack Integration

Slack is a team messaging platform for real-time collaboration through channels, direct messages, and app integrations.

### How AI SRE supports Slack <a href="#how-ai-sre-supports-slack" id="how-ai-sre-supports-slack"></a>

AI SRE supports Slack through three mechanisms. Teams collaborate on incidents in Slack, run Slack commands to act on incidents, and automate messaging through runbook actions.

* **Incident collaboration:** Teams coordinate incident response in Slack, and AI SRE captures the conversation in the incident record.
* **Slack commands:** Responders run `/harness` commands to act on incidents directly from Slack.
* **Runbook actions:** Runbooks post messages and create or archive channels during a response.

Configure Slack runbook actions and commands with the following steps:
