# Run Bamboo plans in CD pipelines

Run a Bamboo plan from a Continuous Delivery stage

Use the Bamboo step in a Continuous Delivery stage to run a Bamboo plan.

You can run Continuous Integration in Harness with the Continuous Integration module and Continuous Integration pipelines.

If you use Harness Continuous Delivery and not Harness Continuous Integration, you can still run Continuous Integration with the Bamboo step in a Continuous Delivery stage.

Harness integrates with Bamboo so you can run Bamboo plans as part of the stage.

## Before you begin

Create the pipeline stage the step runs in:

* **Pipeline and stage**: Create a pipeline with a Continuous Delivery stage. Go to [Add a stage](https://developer.harness.io/docs/platform/pipelines/add-a-stage) to add a stage.

## Add the Bamboo step

Perform the following steps to add the Bamboo step:

1. In the Continuous Delivery stage, select **Execution**.
2. Select **Add Step**.
3. Select **Bamboo**.

### Bamboo connector

Select or create a Harness Bamboo connector.

### Build plan permissions

The Bamboo account used by the connector needs these permissions:

* View plan
* Build plan, if the step triggers a build as part of the pipeline

Go to [Bamboo permissions](https://confluence.atlassian.com/bamboo/bamboo-permissions-369296034.html) to review the required plan permissions.

### Plan name

Select the Bamboo plan to build. The list is populated from the Bamboo server in the connector you selected.

### Plan parameters

If the plan is parameterized, Harness populates the plan parameters from the server when you select the plan in **Plan Name**.

To add a parameter manually, select **Add Plan Parameter**.

For example, you have a build plan that generates a software package with a version number. Instead of hardcoding the version number in the build configuration, you can create a plan parameter called `VersionNumber`. Set this parameter when you run the plan with the Bamboo step so you can specify the version for that run.
